Jun. 20th, 2006 07:49 pmToday I finally talked to Amy. This afternoon I went up to the storage cupboard behind her desk and took out a pocket calculator and a packof post-it notes, neither of which I really needed. On the way back I stopped by Amy and said "Hi, how are you finding it in here?"
She replied, "Yeah, it's been okay. I'm getting used to it."
I said, "it does take a bit of time, but you do get used to it, and it's a bit boring".
She said, "Yeah, it's okay."
I said "Well, I'm Robert and I work at the other end of the room, which is probably about as boring as it is up here, so if you ever need any help or anything.."
I started to move away and Amy said, "Well, it was nice to meet you", and I said "It's nice to meet you."
As I walked away I could hear some laughing from Amy's table, but I don't know if it was from her or from the other two women sitting at the table. I did hear someone mention my name, though, so presumably Amy was asking something about me.
Amy left about an hour later and passed by me on the way out of the office, I was about to wish her goodnight but she didn't even glance at me, let alone speak to me. She seemed absorbed in looking through envelopes.
I don't know if this was good or bad. I'll have to see what happens although to be honest I am nervous and I do actually regret it now, because I do think that Amy is completely uninterested and I probably completely humiliated myself. I suppose at least I've done something though.
I bought some fish and chips on the way home, because to be honest I wanted to eat something big, just really for the sake of comfort eating more than anything else I think.
