Work was fairly average today. People are starting to get used to each other a bit more after the room change, luckily.

After work I went up to the cinema to meet my friend Michele, who I first met a few weeks ago. The film we saw was a Spanish film called Volver (the title means "return"), the new film by Pedro Almodvar. The film stars Penelope Cruz as Raimunda, a woman who lives in Madrid with her lazy, lecherous husband who spends most of his time sitting around drinking beer, watching sport and eyeing up their teenage daughter. Raimunda's sister also lives in madrid where she runs an illegal women only hair salon. The two sisters lost their parents in a fire in their home village three years previously. However, their elderly aunt, who still lives in the village, believes that the ghost of the dead woman is in her house, while the woman who looks after her believes that the death of the parents might be related to the mysterious disappearance of her mother. The film is a blend of thriller, comedy and melodrama. It's a very enjoyable film, very stylishly made, and very well-acted (Penelope Cruz is far better in this one than she's been in any of her Hollywood work. Michele absolutely loved it.

After the film we went and had a couple of drinks and talked for an hour or so. Michele works in a medical museum and has to work at the weekend, so as we left I asked her is she would like to meet up again after she finishes work one day at the weekend, and she said: "Yes, thank you, that would be lovely".
So I'm very happy about that. Michele is really nice and, it has to be said, extremely good looking! I'll e-mail her tomorrow and find out what she wants to do.
