This morning I went out to the first session of a training course for work called "Realising Our Future". It's not compulsory but training courses are often quite helpful, and if nothing else they're a break so I always try to go on them when I can. This course was being held in a hotel a few streets away from where I live, which was helpful. This was just a half day introduction session, and it was actually quite good. It's mainly a self development in particular with building up assertiveness and self-confidence, which is helpful. One of the activities we had to do was, in groups, to draw what we thought working in the office was like now (which was pretty much identical in both groups, basically everyone miserable, bored and confused) and what we thought it might be like in the future (which might involve a few more computers and fewer Daleks than one group put in). In the afternoon I went into work for awhile. It's still chaos after the move at the weekend, but people do seem to be settling in a bit more. I was only in for about four hours before I went home. I wish I'd take a half day, actually! At the end of the month we'll be starting full day sessions at the course, which means short days, and free lunch at the hotel.

I'm planning on booking a night class for this term at the University of Edinburgh. The one I was thinking of doing is called "From Text to Performance" which involves looking at the text of two plays by Chekhov and using it to help develop students' own scripts. It sounds pretty good, I think. It might be fun.

Tomorrow after work I'm going to the cinema with my friend Michele to see Volver, which should be good.
