Apr. 17th, 2006 05:17 pmLast night I was watching the film "Shaun of the Dead". It's basically a romantic comedy about a man trying to win back his girlfriend and sort his life out, while at the same time having to survive rampaging hordes of flesh-eating zombies. It's probably one of the best blends of horror and comedy. The horror elements are gruesome enough to satisfy fans, while never being really scary, and the comedy elements are genuinely amusing and work for the film, arising as they do from the characters, who are all well-drawn, well-acted and engaging. Very well worth watching. After the movie I sat around watching back to back episodes of that sit-com "Home Improvement" until about three in the morning. I used to like that show.
I had a day off work today and went out to the shops. I wandered around for about three hours, and eventually bought the DVD of "Sex and Lucia". That's a good film, I've seen it a couple of times before on television. I didn't buy it just because of the title. Honest. I bought some groceries for the week on the way home, I don't need much this week, which was nice, because I usually get groceries on Saturday, of course. My brother's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. I hardly ever see him because he lives in London, so I'm going to get him a gift voucher for a music store. I don't know what he's already got.
I have decided to have pizza delivered tonight, and I am looking forward to it. I love pizza and I haven't had any for months.
back to work tomorrow, unfortunately. Luckily it's a short week, though. That's one of the advantages in being off on Friday and Monday, it means you have two short weeks.
