Last night I was watching a drama/documentary called "CS Lewis: Beyond Narnia", about the author of the "Chronicles of Narnia" series. Lewis actually wrote a lot more then the Narnia books. He wrote a lot of books on theology and science-fiction novels. Apparently he was very good friends with JRR Tolkein and they used to critique each others manuscripts.

Later in the evening I was watching some of "Jason X", the tenth film in the "Friday the 13th" series. It's actually one of the more enjoyable films in the series with Jason being woken from suspended animation on a spaceship four hundred years in the future. Wisely, they don't take anything in the film seriously and it becomes almost like a comedy.

This morning I went round to my parents house. My brother was there from London. He gave me a belated Christmas present of "The Social Contract" by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. We all went up to a nearby hotel for lunch and I had some fish in batter with chips. It was very nice. After that my brother and I went out to the shops and bought some books in a three-for-two offer on philosophy books in the cheap pocket sized "Great Ideas" series. I bought "Confessions of a Sinner" by St. Augustine, "The Myth of Sisyphus" by Albert Camus and "On the Suffering of the World" by Arthur Schopenhauer. Should be plenty to enjoy there.

It was a really nice afternoon actually. My brother and I actually got through the entire time without a single argument, which is something of a record. I suppose we barely ever see each other anymore so we don't really have the time or the opportunity to get into arguements.
