"The Double Life of Veronique" is an amazing film. I am glad that you enjoyed it.
That Hitchcock course should be very interesting. I had a similar class in college. One of the projects that I had to complete was an research paper about the societal impacts of "Psycho." It is amazing to look back at the time when the film came out and see how people were affected by it. Today, we have movies like "Audition" "Saw" and now, "Hostel," which, in my opinion, are little more that excuses to show people being dismembered (well, "Audition" was better than that). "Psycho" was amazing because it was scary in that it got in the viewers mind...I mean, really...ever think about it when you are in the shower? :P
The Auteur theory is interesting...and I think that it is coming back in favor with such directors as Speilberg, Cameron..and very much Michael Bay.
