The Batman

I worked in the morning and listened to The Retrospectors, British Scandal about the life and shady career of media mogul Robert Maxwell, Myths and Legends telling three short stories from Japanese folklore, Office Ladies discussing the US series of The Office and Stuff You Should Know about breathing through the nose.

I had a half day off from work and in the afternoon I went out to the cinema and saw The Batman which I really liked a lot. It's dark, violent, and very long, but it Is really good. I liked the fact that Batman was more of a detective in this one. I was feeling kind of tired when I arrived at the cinema and I was a little concerned about the film's length, but while it was showing I didn't feel tired and felt involved in the story for the full three hours run time.

Titane

While I worked I was listening to The Retrospectors, Unspooled discussing the movie The Piano, Red Handed about the Satanic panic in the 1980s, Cabinet of Curiosities, Stuff You Should Know about re-wilding, and Podcast Secrets of the Pharaohs about the British sitcom Peep Show.

This evening I watched the film Titane, written and directed by Julia Ducournau, about a dancer, who was in a severe car accident as a child which left her with a titanium plate in her head, and encounters a lonely fire-chief who's son went missing ten years earlier, meanwhile there is a killer on the loose. It is a really bizarre body-horror film from France, which is quite graphic and very surreal and disturbing. I was wincing in my seat in places.
