Dec. 28th, 2006 07:48 pmLast night I was watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was really great. I remember seeing that film when it was first out at the cinema. I also watched Opening Night, directed by John Cassavetes. It stars Gena Rowlands as an ageing theatre star who is rehearsing and previewing her latest play in California before it's debut on Broadway. However she is deeply troubled by the fact that she is playing a woman several years older than she is and has to confront her greatest fear (which is ageing). Added to that is the fact that she saw the accidental death of a young fan, whose ghost she starts to hallucinate. It's not long before her behaviour on and off stage becomes extremely erratic. It's a very good film, but very tough going in places.
I went out today, and the streets were absolutely packed again. I had a cheese and ham toastie for my lunch, which was nice.
