It's been quite a busy couple of days. After work on Monday I went to the shops and bought the third season of "24" on DVD in the sales. I already have the first two. After that I went up to the cinema to see "Hidden", a thriller directed by Michael Haneke. It stars Daniel Auteuil and Juliette Binoche as a wealthy Parisian couple (he hosts a TV talk show and she works for a publisher) and they have a twelve year old son. They are understandably disturbed when they recieve anonymous video tapes showing two hour long static shots of their house, along with strange drawings and anonymous phone calls. The husband comes to believe that the person responsible is someone he wronged as a child, trying to get revenge. It's a very slow moving, but very involving film. It is one of those films though, where you're left with more questions than answers by the end. It's the only film I have ever been in (except for film festivals and special screenings) where almost the entire audience stayed for the whole of the end credits.

Yesterday I went out with my mum to see "Walk the Line", the new film about the life of Johnny Cash. I've been a big fan of Johnny Cash's for a very long time so I was really looking forward to this film and I wasn't disappointed. The story is pretty familiar from many other musical biography films, but that didn't stop it from being very involving. Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter were both very good, and their singing in the film was very authentic sounding (the actors sang themselves instead of relying on pre-recorded music).

Today has been fairly quiet and it looks like most of the rest of the week will be as well. By the way, because it's my Alfred Hitchcock class tomorrow night, I probably won't be on, yet again, until Friday.
