(no subject)

The other night I stayed up until dawn watching Agents of Shield season 4. It had alternative reality and they know my sweet spot. I couldn’t stop. But I noticed something about my tv. It was so dark that I couldn’t even see who was hitting who.

I moved my smaller tv in from the living room. I don’t watch in there because the electronics are on the floor until I spring for a table. So I hooked it up and yes, my other tv is dying of creeping dark. Testing it involved sorting out about 5 remotes. And then finding the one I needed on the kitchen counter where I randomly put it down as I was to and froing.

I’m debating buying a new, cheap Roku tv.

Hey all,

Phone started repeatedly throwing bad errors, overheating, etc. I have a replacement on the way (god I hope I did not get ripped off cheap as it was) but if anyone wants to ask for a story in exchange for donations, my ko-fi is here and you can DM or leave a screened comment.

Normal rate is 100 words per dollar. I do typically make a limit of 5K words, but that's negotiable for the right idea.

(This on top of being shorted pay that is STILL not sorted out has made for depression icing on the depressed cake.)

The Friday Five

1. What was the most sick that you've ever been?
I used to get terrible sore throats when I was young. They got worse every year. The last time I got delusional. When I could afford it I had my tonsils out and I swear I didn’t have a cold for 10 years.

2. What disease are you afraid of getting?
Lyme disease.

3. Are you a big baby when it comes to taking medicine/shots for your illnesses?
No.

4. Is going to the doctor really THAT bad?
Yes.

5. Would you have the flu twice a month if you were paid $1,000 for having it?
Maybe for $10,000 but I don’t come cheap.

We’re having a spate of hot days, 100F/37C, then it will cool down. The mobile home park had to shut down the water on Friday as something broke. The system is old and a piece needs replacing and it needs hunting down.. Management had to choose between no water and telling everyone to keep a faucet open to regulate the pressure. They decided on the latter one which is painful to anyone who lived with drought. But better than no water.

I have strawberries ripening, actually strawberries. I have to hang pots on the fence because those I had in pots on the ground got munched on. I keep them there as decoys. The tomatoes are soso. I think I watered too much. Or this type doesn’t grow as tall as I am used to. But the cucumber has a flower on it and soon I will have a round, light green ball of a cucumber.

Even the butterfly bush plant I got from the Arbor Day Society is growing and I thought I killed that.

Summary:

First Dates can be interesting.

First Date

Maria had spent time touching up her nails, dithering over which outfit to wear, deciding on the shoes that looked best with it.

Hank, for his part, had done all he could to tidy his appearance, currently stuck in 'blue', 'furry', and 'large', but he knew those factors didn't matter to her.

He showed up promptly — actually early but didn't approach the house right away — and rang the doorbell. She answered it, her smile lighting her eyes in a way that made Hank feel almost normal again.

"Shall we?" he invited, pointing to his car.

An explosion answered for her.

After dealing with the alien being chased by space cops — not Carol's set, thankfully — Binary and Beast sat up on a rooftop, drinks cups and to-go containers of food between them.

"For a date, it was a little rocky," she offered, smiling despite the bruise darkening her face.

"I promise you, I can do better," he replied, self-consciously smoothing singed fur on his arm.

She reached out and covered his hand. "Why don't you take me back to your place, and we'll see about the aftercare first?" Maria invited, and Hank had to suck in a deep breath of anticipation.

Treating each other's scrapes had led to their clothes being discarded, leading to a brazen challenge to see if they fit as well in a bed as they did in combat.

Hank was never going to feel anything short of awe for how easily Maria accepted his mutated appearance. He could only gasp and keep his hands on her lightly as she touched, petted, and kissed him. He laid back and let her have control… until she turned the tables, bringing his hand to her breast.

The half-slitted eyes gazing down as he touched her wrecked him, making her purr.

Maria could get used to the feel of Hank's body under her, the strength and dexterity he used in a fight leashed to their mutual desires. She might even welcome waking up with him… but she wasn't going to rush things. She knew he was struggling at times with who — what — he was.

She had experience managing that, and was still growing accustomed to her powers.

Now, resting in what was hopefully a brief respite, she ran a finger along his cheek fur, making him shift into the touch.

"Next date, fewer aliens."

He chuckled, and then saw to kissing her.

Author's Note: This universe has been built from the ground up with many influences of pop culture and history. It was began in 2005. I posted the last main part of the story in 2023. There is a prequel and sequel both forming in my plans for the future. When I began crafting it... we were not so far down the fascism slide in real life. I very nearly did not touch it again after 2016. Ultimately though, I needed to let the good guys win.

I went to another new store. It’s odd in that there are 3 different hardware stores situated next door to each other. This one specializes in animal feed; I wasn’t there for that but for garden soil. I couldn’t figure out their system. It seemed to involve getting a ticket and going somewhere around the corner to pick up the package. But there were no instructions or floor workers to ask. So I went back to reliable Jerry’s where I knew where things lived. The weird thing about Jerry’s is that they stop stocking bedding plants by the end of June. One big sale and then empty shelves.

It’s been hot here off and on; the heat index is always about 10 degrees higher than the temperature. So, hot.

Agents of Shield is a lot to take as a binge. The writers are working through a lot of trust issues that they probably should see somebody about. Every story involves betrayal. Can’t trust nobody. Also, aliens are interesting; nazis are not. Kyle Maclachlan is having the time of his life actIng out as Crazy Dad. Bust that furniture!

I just read actor Kenneth Colley died. I was a fan of his since I saw him in Pennies from Heaven on tv in the 70s. Always a welcome sight in any tv show or movie.
