Last night I was watching another part of those endless documentaries about banned films in Britain. It actually wasn't bad at all. It's strange to think of the films that were so shocking at one time. The comic highlight of the show was when director John Waters justifies the controversial scenes from his film "Desperate Living". I've seen a few of the John Waters films, and although I'm not a fan I think some of them are quite funny. There were also people like Malcolm McDowell, Ken Russell and Michael Winner justifying their films. I remember seeing Malcolm McDowell on stage at the Edinburgh Film Festival a couple of years ago talking about making "If..." and "O Lucky Man!". Film censorship in Britain seems to be one of those endlessly fascinating subjects.
Today has been very quiet so far, and it probably will remain that way. At least it's getting brighter and warmer now.
